STEP #1 Healthy is not a Size, it is a Lifestyle
Food matters, metabolism basics are simple, we eat, we digest, foods are broken down into carbs, fats, and proteins. Then the calories convert to energy. Next, our cells and tissues use that energy to ….YOU GUESSED IT ….Repair itself. This is why we say get enough vitamin D naturally daily with sunlight, strive for proper digestion, try eating a few hours prior to bedtime for optimum health. If you haven’t had a cold/flu in awhile you may thank it to your sleep.
Step#2 Fitness
When we exercise we kick our metabolism into high speed by doing cardio, we build muscle, and the key is to just MOVE! 20-30 minutes a day 3-4 times a week is a great start to any weight-loss plan. A senior moving from one to room to the next, to the bathroom and to the kitchen can easily burn 2,000 calories a day with simple movements around a home. This is why it important that they eat three meals a day, including fruits and vegetables as a healthy snack throughout the day. We can’t just drink Ensure, pop a Centrum and chow down on a slice of pizza and call it a day! Malnutrition in Seniors is on the rise because they simply aren’t interested in cooking a meal. They look for simplicity, microwave meals and in the end it’s no wonder this daily lifestyle leaves them feeling tired, and out of energy.
60-75% of all calories are turning into fuel for our organs (brain, heart, lungs)
15-30% we use roughly this amount when we move, treadmill, walk on the beach, walk in the shopping mall, housecleaning
10% that’s all folks! 10 is the number that is burned as we digest our food and beverages….we are a human machine. Food in, food out….make good habits stick. Health is our greatest Wealth!
Step #3 Sleep – De-stress
Turn off the News, after you get that natural Vitamin D after you’ve walked off your dinner around your block, now it is simply time to relax. Interested in shrinking that belly, SLEEP. Turn off the cell phones, unplug (literally) that includes WI-FI … you will sleep solid, believe me you’ll sleep, maybe not straight through the night but you sure will have more energy in the morning. Children and teenagers do not need cell phones next to them in bed. To learn more about living in an EMF world check out page #62 of Healthy is not a Size, it is a Lifestyle –
