Medics are reporting a sharp increase in hospital admissions for eating disorders (ED) during Covid-19. There was a 66% increase in hospital admissions for eating disorders in 2020 compared to 2019 and the numbers continue to surge in 2021. While everyone has a seat at the table, we are also aware that many have a secret at the table.  Support those affected by eating disorders!

Zinc deficiency plays a huge role in anorexia and bulimia as we know that it’s a major contributing factor. Zinc will help to regain their appetite and weight. If pill form is not an option, discuss with your physician zinc sulfate heptahydrate liquid supplement form. Vitamin B12,D, and E levels in the blood are also often low in anorexia nervosa.

Where do you get your information about nutrition? The internet? TV? Friends? While many people learn about nutrition, the best source of information about nutrition is a holistic nutritionist. If you have questions about foods, concerns about how your eating is affecting your health, goals to use nutrition to enhance sports performance, struggles with knowing what supplements are worthwhile, or any other need related to food and nutrition ~ Make an appointment with Wendy Cottiers Nutrition of South Florida (ZOOM/FACETIME) or call your local certified Holistic Nutritionist in your area!

Environmental factors play a big role in how we feel about ourselves. Poor nutrition, anxiety, infections, chemical exposure (even a low-level of exposure to a number of different chemicals can cause a wide variety of chronic deisease), stress, other factors such as sick building syndrome, electromagnetic disturbances of the environment…dental amalgam fillings causing infections under the teeth the list goes on and on.

How much sleep are you getting? And is it interrupted or solid sleep? Most people know that nutrition and physical activity are related, but did you know that sleep is related to health and nutrition, too? Sleep studies show that adults need an average of 9 hours per night! Work on getting good nutrition to help your sleep quality, and get your sleep to keep your body in good physical condition. Eat well, sleep well, and prosper!

This is why we need to be very careful about our supplements! COVID-19 combat with proper nutrition (which means no microwaves), sleep, exercise, staying positive by avoiding if possible and or limiting time spent with toxic people. Don’t be fooled by cheap imitations when shopping for quality vitamins. New Chapter and Garden of Life are both NON-GMO Certified Organic vitamins that can be at WholeFoods, VitaminShoppe, online Amazon. We always recommend for keeping our immune systems up to combat flu, COVID-19 *Vitamin C,D, Melatonin, Zinc* The goal is to avoid fillers in binders often found in vitamins.

If you’re not sure about whether or not to take a supplement, get advice from your local Holistic Nutritionist or call me for a free 10-minute consultation today! (954) 873-7388 – Wendy Cottiers Nutrition
